I recently had the pleasure of attending the New Year's Eve dinner and party at this hotel, and it was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the beautiful venue and the friendly staff. The size of the rooms was impressive, although some areas of the hotel could do with refurbishment, it didn't detract from the overall experience. The dinner and service were excellent, and the music provided the perfect atmosphere for a cozy and intimate party. It was truly a memorable way to ring in the new year. I highly recommend this hotel for a special occasion like New Year's Eve.

Great setting in lovely gardens. Grand old barn type building with covey beds and helpful staff.
Rooms have a old feel to them and could do with modernizing soon...

The staff were extremely pleasant and the location of the Hotel excellent for where we needed to be.
I feel the Hotel could do with some upgrading/refurbing etc. Only one bedside light, curtains without rings etc, windows not very clean etc; it just needs a bit of tender loving care lavishing on it, as it appeared 'tired' and in need of attention to detail. We would have appreciated being warned beforehand regarding the aeroplane noise - efficient double glazing would have helped here.

My room was dirty and shabby, it was late and I was so tired when I arrived that I didn't ask to switch in case there were no spare rooms. The bathroom was dirty, the bin had not been emptied and I was suspicious that the sheets were not clean either.

Olde-worldie and full of character. Quaint country hotel.
Need a car. Taxi to and from airport pricey..

Very friendly staff, excellent evening meal, the location & history of the hotel was very interesting. The rooms were comfortable & warm and the price was value for money. We would certainly stay with you again in the future.
The only thing was that work was being carried out on the hotel quite early on Sunday morning (around 8:15 am) which woke us up earlier than we had planned.

Great Hotel... Nothing was a problem. fellas... Want to treat your special person? Bed, breakfast, evening meal with champagne and chocolates waiting in the room on your arrival at a very reasonable price! This is the place to go..... Brilliant as I only booked on line 12 hours previously.
No complaints of hotel. Thou stansted runway is close...

The setting is very peaceful and the hotel itself is very traditional in appearance. It was extremely quiet and the room was pretty well equipped.
The room was very tired and there was a lot of milldew on the bathroom ceiling. A few cobwebs here and there. Needs redecorating. Dinner menu was very limited and no atmosphere as the restaurant was empty and cold.

Restauant was fair and service good, food reasonable value for money. Enjoyed leaving the room called Canning.
The room 'Canning' was dreadful. On arrival the window was open wide with high vegetation outside. There was an infestation of mosquitos in the room and bathroom - probably because of the open window. There were lots of staineson the carpet and furniture. The curtains felt very damp, everything also felt slightly damp. Mildew was showing through the paintwork. There was also a strange smell in the room - possibly damp related which is still lingering in my nostrils! Sorry but this was the worst hotel room I have probably ever encountered - certainly in the uk.

The staff were very helpful but they should amend their literature to say tht 24 hour room service is not provided.

This hotel was very near to some friends we were visiting and it was extremely convenient for us to stay at. The breakfast was wonderful.
The room was a little shaby and outdated but very comfortable.

lovely location who appears to be covering all jobs.
lovely location but in need of updating, doors rattle everytime someone walks past which keeps you awake all nignt. Very small bar area which states open from 11 am to 11 pm, but not manned until 7 pm any other time you have to walk to the reception area to get the only member of staff who appears to be covering all jobs.
